Amapiano producer Djy Jaivane has ignited heated discussion across the music scene after making a bold statement during a recent episode of the Piano Pulse podcast.

The Simnandi Records founder claimed that Young Stunna owes him credit and royalties for the smash hit Adiwele, which he says was recorded while Stunna was still signed under his label.

The revelation comes amid ongoing online chatter around Jaivane’s name, following accusations of unpaid royalties involving other collaborators.

While addressing those concerns, Jaivane took the conversation further by pointing to Adiwele, a song that helped catapult Young Stunna into mainstream success and remains one of the most recognisable Amapiano anthems.

According to Jaivane, the song may have been released under Kabza De Small’s label, but it was originally recorded during Stunna’s time with Simnandi Records.

However, Jaivane says he chose not to escalate the issue legally, despite feeling wronged.

“If I wanted to, I would have done the things he does on social media and said to Kabza this, Stunna this… and involved lawyers,” he said on the podcast.

“But I’m not that person to run to lawyers.”

The remarks sent shockwaves through the Amapiano community, with many fans expressing shock over the revelation.

For some, it exposed a deeper issue of recognition and accountability in the South African music industry, especially where young artists and their early backers are concerned.

Adiwele not only cemented Young Stunna’s place in the game, but also contributed to Kabza De Small’s continued dominance in the genre.
