Actress Annie Macaulay has defended herself after facing public criticism for congratulating fashion designer Abiodun Folashade Tokunbo, popularly known as CEO Luminee, who recently welcomed a child with convicted sex offender Baba Ijesha.
Baba Ijesha, real name Olanrewaju James Omiyinka, was released from prison after serving time for sexually abusing a minor.
His marriage to Luminee and the birth of their child sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the designer’s judgment given that she is already a mother to a young daughter from a previous relationship.
Annie, the former wife of singer Innocent “2Baba” Idibia, came under fire after posting a congratulatory message for Luminee. Critics were quick to remind the actress, a mother of two daughters, of Baba Ijesha’s criminal history.
The actress has since clarified that her message was based solely on a prior professional relationship with the designer, as Luminee designed an outfit for her some months ago.
She stated that she was unaware of the controversy surrounding the birth announcement.
