Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has expressed deep sorrow over the reported passing of fellow actor Alexx Ekubo, describing him as a passionate performer whose talent and dedication left a lasting mark on the film industry.
In a heartfelt message shared on his Facebook page, Agu said he was “deeply saddened” by the news, noting that Ekubo was “young, talented, and full of promise.” He added that the late actor gave his craft “passion, sacrifice, and heart,” stressing that the industry has lost “not just an actor, but a storyteller who still had so many roles left to bring to life.”
Also reacting, actor Uzor Arukwe reflected on his personal shock and silence following the news, admitting he struggled to find the right words. He said grief sometimes comes quietly, explaining that some losses “don’t meet you online first” but instead sit with those affected in private reflection.
Arukwe recalled meeting Ekubo on a film set, describing him as warm, accommodating, and a true gentleman without “noise or airs.” He emphasized that beyond fame and talent, people are ultimately remembered for their kindness and how they treat others.
