Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has responded to a viral video showing him in what appeared to be a distressed state, urging Nigerians to focus on the country’s challenges rather than his personal life.
The video, which has been widely circulated on social media, captured the actor wearing a black shirt, blue jeans and red sneakers while appearing disoriented and speaking to himself as people gathered around him.
In the footage, passers-by were seen discussing what might have led to his condition, while a woman appealed for immediate intervention, saying, “You guys should do something. This is very important”.
However, in a follow-up video, Anuku dismissed concerns over the viral clip, insisting that he is in good health and questioning why many people were preoccupied with his personal affairs.
“Straight up. You all have seen nothing yet. You all keep talking,” he said.
“You all need to face the government and leave me the hell alone. I am good. Do your thing and leave me alone, leave me the hell alone.
“You all don’t have anything better to do? Go and do something.”
The latest incident is the second time in recent years that the actor has drawn public attention over videos suggesting he was in distress.
In 2022, footage surfaced online showing Anuku dressed in tattered clothing and wandering the streets, sparking widespread concern among fans and colleagues.
He later explained that the clip was recorded on the set of a movie and accused those who circulated it of deliberately trying to tarnish his reputation.
