My Return To Real Madrid, Driven By Love For The Club — Mourinho

José Mourinho has revealed that his enduring affection for Real Madrid CF was the decisive factor behind his return to the Santiago Bernabéu.

The Portuguese manager has been confirmed as Real Madrid’s head coach for the 2026-27 season, marking the beginning of a second spell in charge of the Spanish giants.

Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, overseeing one of the club’s most competitive eras. During that period, he guided Los Blancos to a La Liga title, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup while helping to restore the club’s domestic dominance.

His return comes at a challenging time for Madrid, who have endured two consecutive seasons without winning a major trophy. Expectations will therefore be high as Mourinho attempts to restore the club to the summit of European and Spanish football.

Despite the scale of the task awaiting him, Mourinho insisted that his emotional connection to the club made the decision straightforward.

“I love Real Madrid, and this is the reason why I’m coming back. I don’t deny it,” the 63-year-old told reporters.

Known for his charismatic personality and winning mentality, Mourinho arrives with a reputation for delivering success wherever he has managed. Real Madrid supporters will now hope his return can spark a new era of silverware after an uncharacteristically barren spell for one of football’s most decorated clubs.
