The Ogiyan of Ejigbo, Oba Oyeyode Oyesosin, has endorsed Governor Ademola Adeleke for a second term in office, ditching his subject, Mr Najeem Salaam of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The monarch, speaking at the commissioning of the 12km intercity road held in front of his palace, lauded Adeleke’s administration for listening to the yearnings of residents of communities under his domain.
He noted that the rehabilitated roads are very important, as they connect Ejigbo community and will help the town’s economy.
Oba Oyesosin, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “With what Adeleke has done, I want to tell you all, my subjects, I know that you always hear me and understand my language. I want to tell you that we are going to cast all our votes for Governor Ademola Adeleke.”
While addressing his supporters, Governor Adeleke said, “They once predicted that we won’t perform, but I surprised them. I deliver so well across all sectors. I want to commend the royal fathers for your backing. I remember all my promises to the Ogiyan; I will fulfil them by the grace of God.
“I want to assure you, my father, the Ogiyan, that you will commission the Ejigbo/Iwo road once completed. I love you all. I thank you all for your support.”
Earlier, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Bello Bashir, disclosed that the Ejigbo-Iwo road is a 33 km intercity road connecting over seven communities, including Ejigbo, Ilawo, Iwata, Ijimo, Alagba, Iwo-Oke, Ibarapa, Amere, and Iwo Community.
He noted that the reconstruction of the road was divided into two segments; the first 12 km, with a width of 7.3 m, has been completed, and the second phase will start in earnest.
